 Netflix keeps losing more subscribers

Despite the massive success of Stranger Things 4, Netflix continues to lose subscribers. According to a forecast from Barclays, published on Wednesday, July 6, and given the company's second-quarter results, Netflix will lose more subscribers than expected.

Everything indicates that Netflix has pulled its head and that its online movie and series service is working fine. This, after a mixed period where millions of subscribers did not renew their subscription. Two of the biggest original series on Netflix have released new seasons that fans have been eagerly awaiting.

“Despite a strong slate of returning shows, such as Stranger Things, Ozark and Peaky Blinders, app download and engagement metrics are trending downward. The release of Stranger Things saw a sharp rise in the second quarter, but the trend quickly faded in June.”

Still, according to Netflix, the third quarter will be equally difficult and things could get worse until 2023, with more subscriber losses. It will then be necessary for "Netflix to rebalance its content offering towards quality, particularly given competing offerings from Disney, Apple, HBO or even Amazon," the analyst warned.
